Between the grooves of this split LP, two Tampa Bay party bands–Miller Lowlifes and Bad, Bad Things–belly up to the bar to compare their Florida-inflicted battle scars and swap a few tunes back and forth like rounds of shots.
On side A, Miller Lowlifes wear their Bay-area pedigree on their sleeve, boasting members of Awkward Age, Articles, Big Sad, Madison Bloodbath, and Too Many Daves. The band’s style of catchy pop-punk juxtaposed with Richie’s introspective, raspy lyrics would be just as comfortable Malort-drunk in a lonely Chicago bar as it would be finishing its 4th Boca Fiesta margarita at The Fest.

Side B marks Bad, Bad Things’s first foray into the semi-permanence that is pressed vinyl and magnetic tape. Started as a pandemic project, the four Tampa DIY vets cut their 70s inspired, powerpop proclivities with hints of southern-tinged dad rock and bubblegummy, Ramonescore punk. The two singers alternate laying down snotty tongue-in-cheek lyrics over tunes interlaced with hooky leads and gratuitous guitarmonies.
